Coronavirus update

We want to keep everyone regularly updated on how the virus is affecting our service delivery.  The safety of our customers and teams remains our priority and we are monitoring the situation closely.   

We are focussing on minimising risk whilst delivering services to our customers, particularly those who are elderly and vulnerable. We are taking a number of preventative steps to keep you and others safe from the virus. This means that you will see some changes in the way we work.  

At this point we are still providing our full range of services; but we will be delivering some of them in slightly different ways.  

Sheltered and extra care schemes: 

Our customers living within extra care and sheltered housing will receive services as usual.   

Weekly welfare checks will be delivered with caution and consideration and the best way of contact will be decided upon.  Some customers have already informed us that they do not wish to be visited.  This will be reviewed weekly and telephone calls will replace face to face contact. 

We have taken the decision to close our community rooms.  We do not wish to prolong social exclusion but the risk of infection by keeping facilities open has to be considered. 

Our sheltered housing advisors working within schemes know most of their residents very well.  They will keep in contact by whatever means necessary to ensure their wellbeing and assist where possible. 

Repairs:  

Prior to booking any repairs or home visits for any of our customers, we are asking some short health questions to ensure the safety of our colleagues’ and customers’ health.  

When you book your appointment please talk to us about any concerns that you have so you can feel reassured we are doing everything we can to reduce the spread of this virus. 

Rent payments: 

We expect our customers to continue to pay their rent as normal using their regular channels. We appreciate that some people, at this time, may have some difficultly in paying their rent due to circumstances outside their control. If any customer has a problem with paying their rent they should, as soon as possible, contact the income team on 01305 216067 to discuss the options available for you. 

Our teams and offices:  

Our teams are following government advice on self-isolation.  

We are also making sure that hand sanitisers and wipes are available for all our teams and that they are following the hand washing advice. We have issued our teams with protective equipment that they can use if they feel it is necessary.
